It's calculated that Colombia has a historic deficit of more than 1000 million dollars, and that’s only the tip of the iceberg.

The country also has a long history of failing to invest in public education, as elites prefer a private education system that perpetuates classism and the privileges that allow them to maintain their position on top. This is their way of putting an end to social mobility.
