Stefanie Kappler

Stefanie Kappler is a PhD student at the University of St Andrews. She holds a B.A. in European Studies from the University of Passau, Germany, and an MLitt in Peace and Conflict Studies from the University of St Andrews. Currently she is working on EU peacebuilding in Bosnia and Herzegovina and has done fieldwork in BiH and the Basque Country.

Nuanced agency in local-international peacebuilding:

In attempting to secure nonviolent transformation as a bottom-up mechanism, ‘uncomfortable voices’ may be ignored in favour of those more palatable to the peacebuilders. This is at the least a missed opportunity
