We mentionned a couple of blog entries ago that Daniel Ellsberg was going to be the guest of the Stephen Colbert's show this week. Some bloggers even heard about Ellsberg's heroism for the first time thanks to the Colbert Report, and were really impressed with the man's achievements. Today he won the 2006 Right Livelihood award, for "putting peace and truth first, at considerable personal risk, and dedicating his life to inspiring others to follow his example". As an ex-Pentagon official, Ellsberg helped disclosing the truth about Vietnam when he leaked the 'Pentagon papers', which underlined the government's lies to the US public about the war. The "patriotic whistleblower" was previously interviewed by Isabel Hilton for openDemocracy.
