In my last blog I mentioned Call for Change, the internet driven get-the-voter out campaign being organised by MoveOn.org.
The software is clear and easy to follow. I looked at it on Todd’s machine. It showed that he had made 182 calls, 47 of which had got through. When you get an answer, there is a polite and personal script for callers to follow, with clear directions about how to respond to different answers. Apparently it is much more sophisticated than two years ago and pollsters say it works.
The opening question asks if the person being called is following the mid-term elections. One man replied to Todd, “What do you think I am, a politician?” and he hung up. A world away from the hyped up folk here on New York’s upper west side!
