Its all about how, be open, be engaging, have technology platform, do answer emails, or maybe don't. Dont be macho, cope with speed, speed, speed, trust your people, retention, succession, confidants... It is really interesting that not one of these CEOs have talked about changes in what they are trying to do, thre is no debate about purpose because this is taken as a given, purpose is plastic, one works it out and then the issue is to do it, redefining purpose is not the essence.
Business leadership does have an awful lot about execution, execution, execution. But if there were civil society leaders on this particular panel, they would almost certainly talk much more about purpose, and far more about accountability. Actually, the word 'accountability' has not passed anyone's lips so far on the panel or from the audience/participants.
David Arkless from Manpower, calls it: "many many people are excluded from the networked community, if we want technology to count, it has to reach everyone".
Back to basics..."every morning i come in to the office and i can see who is making how much money where in the world, this is the power of communications for a business in a networked world".
