One Voice broadcasted from Davos

The World Economic Forum in Davos has been critized in the past for being a secretive assembly of leaders discussing world issues behind closed doors - a process which lacks transparency and raise suspicion. While civil participation has never been the main focus of the event, Simon Zadek reports  that civil society representation this year has even been lowered, being kept at a minimum.

However for the first time this year the WEF will give 'ordinary citizens' podium to speak directly to their leaders, and both Israli and Palestinians will join their voices to condemn extremism and foreign intervention and demand a two-state solution. The event is organised by One Voice, a grassroot movement seeking to empower Israli and Palestinian citizens and make their voices heard. Mahmoud Abbas and Shimon Peres will, amongst others, respond to the people's statements.

The event will be broadcasted live today at 16.15 - you can watch it here (GMT +1).
