Blair's next post revealed!

Published:

Guy Aitchison (London, OK): There has been much speculation over what Blair will do now that he has left office. King of the EU, Middle East peace envoy (don't laugh), academic, touring the lucrative US lecture market - all have been suggested. But now OK can exclusively reveal that Blair will be taking up the ancient and esteemed role of Steward and Bailiff of the Three Hundreds of Chiltern. An authoritative source on the Treasury website gives us the following:

"The Chancellor of the Exchequer has this day appointed the Right Honourable Anthony Charles Lynton Blair to be Steward and Bailiff of the Three Hundreds of Chiltern."

At the time the announcement arrived in our in-box Britain had no Chancellor of the Exchequer. Never mind, it's all part of the antique procedures the ex-Chancellor has promised to abolish as having no part in a modern, accountable Britain. If you want to know how MPs resign this helpful document (pdf) explains all.
