Owner dismantles his home to make way for a development project by 7NG company who recently bought the land from the Cambodian government. He will receive a brick house on the outskirts of the city as compensation.
The land near the new National Assembly, along the Bassac river is under heavy pressure from real estate developers. The areas where many hundreds of families were living in slum-like conditions are being cleared to make way for ambitious land development. One slum after another is emptied from its inhabitants, many of them living there since more than a decade and needing the proximity of the town to survive. They are all relocated on the outskirts of town, sometimes, for the owners of a plot of land, with a compensation. For the renters there is usually no compensation.
