OurBeeb forum session 3: pluralism, news and current affairs
The third session of the OurBeeb forum at King’s College London saw Iain Overton, Tom Mills, Natalie Fenton and Claire Bolderson challenge the BBC’s claims to impartiality while suggesting ways of redefining journalistic ‘truth’.
Natalie Fenton
Natalie Fenton is a Professor in Media and Communications at Goldsmiths, University of London. She is Co-Director of the Goldsmiths Leverhulme Media Research Centre and Co-Director of Goldsmiths Centre for the Study of Global Media and Democracy. Her most recent books include Media, Democracy and Social Change: Re-imagining Political Communications co-authored with Des Freedman, Gholam Khiabany and Aeron Davis (Sage, 2020) and The Media Manifesto co-authored with Des Freedman and Justin Schlosberg and Lina Dencik (Polity, 2020). She is on the Board of Directors of the campaign group Hacked Off and a founding member of the Media Reform Coalition.
Claire Bolderson
Claire Bolderson is a news journalist and documentary maker with more than 25 years’ experience at the BBC. She was presenter of Newshour on the World Service and The World Tonight on Radio 4.
Tom Mills
Tom Mills is lecturer in sociology at Aston University. He is the author of 'The BBC: Myth of a Public Service'.
