42 Days: government throws down the gauntlet

Published:

According to today's ePolitix bullet Home Office minister Tony McNulty has said he is sure of the anti-terror Bill's 42 day provision "success" and that the government can get its Counter-Terrorism Bill through the Commons. In an interview with ePolitix.com, McNulty insisted the legislation next week would survive any Labour rebellions. "In the meetings and discussions I have had on this I have found that when you do set it out properly there is a greater responsiveness to it as opposed to simply saying 'let's go to 42 days permanently'," McNulty added.
