Mohammed is a close Iraqi friend of mine. I stayed with him in 2013 when I went to Baghdad as part of Voices for Creative Nonviolence, a city I’d visited before with the Iraq Peace Team 11 years before. He has a son called Omar, a wife called Miriam and six other children. These are not their real names. I’m using pseudonyms to protect them.
