Jane Gabriel and I are in Brighton to attend the Pathways of women's empowerment conference titled "Reclaiming feminism(s): gender and neo-liberalism". There's a lot of talk on the ongoing "NGOisation" of feminist issues, the immense void that buzzwords such as "development", "country ownership", "civil society" or "gender issues" create and the need to ackowledge the existence of many types of feminisms. We will report on the conference in depth soon here on openDemocracy, but in the meantime you can see some pictures on our flickR account, which will be updated regularly today and tomorrow.
