Owen Smith - image, Owen Smith
Labour leadership contender Owen Smith MP has stated he is “going to be just as radical” as Jeremy Corbyn. “Jeremy has been right about so many things”, Smith argued at the launch of his campaign. This pitch to Labour voters has been taken up by the Saving Labour group hoping to depose Corbyn, with its supporters telling members of the public “there is no real difference… between Owen Smith and Jeremy”.
Is this true? How does this framing of the leadership contest fit with Smith’s actual political record?
