The Democracy in Europe Movement 25 initiated by Yanis Varoufakis, former finance minister of Greece, and Srecko Horvat, philosopher & author, was launched with a press conference at Volksbühne in Berlin. Yanis Varoufakis is the former finance minister of Greece, Professor of Economics at the University of Athens, Visiting Professor at the Lyndon B. Johnson Graduate School of Public Affairs, University of Texas, Austin and co-founder of DiEM25. He is the author of Adults in the Room: My Battle with Europe's Deep Establishment.( Bodley Head, 2017) and Talking to My Daughter About the Economy: A Brief History of Capitalism (Bodley Head, 2017). Srećko Horvat is a philosopher from Croatia. He has published more than 10 books translated into 15 languages. His books include Poetry from the Future (2019), What Does Europe Want? (co-authored with Slavoj Žižek, 2014), Welcome to the Desert of Post-Socialism (2015), and The Radicality of Love (2015). He is one of the founders of DiEM25 and Council member of the Progressive International.
