As you’ve probably noticed, OurKingdom has recently been migrated onto the main openDemocracy site, and from now on will be using the same Drupal technology as openDemocracy’s other specialist blogs (such as openRussia, and openUSA). This move comes at a time when openDemocracy itself is changing rapidly, and internally it made sense for OurKingdom to move onto the same platform as the rest of oD. It also gives us a lot more scope for technological improvements than WordPress was able to.
Having said that, we know there has been a bit of teething trouble. We’re missing several of the old RSS feeds, the recent comments one most of all. Many of the old links seem to have indexed poorly. And people have been experiencing severe neck pain brought on by having to look to the right all the time. Most of all, as you may also have noticed, openDemocracy requires users to create an account and log in to be able to comment, which we know a lot of people are finding frustrating.
Anyway, we are working to ameliorate some of these problems as quickly as we can, though we are light on technical team members at the moment. But we’d love to know what other problems / missing features you’ve noticed as well. Please do leave comments and feedback on the site on this post, or if the comment system has defeated you, you could always email guy.aitchison@opendemocracy.net. Thanks for your patience.
