Something slightly different for Dark Arts readers this week. Today I’m sharing a story we’ve been working on about a quiet rural constituency in the east of England, where both main party candidates stand accused of buying the chance to become its MP – there is, of course, a lobbying connection.
In other, not entirely unrelated news, the public affairs trade body PRCA is investigating a number of firms for a potential breach of the industry code of conduct, which states that members must “keep strictly separate from their duties and activities as political consultants any personal activity or involvement on behalf of a political party”, following on from our reporting of lobbyist Labour candidates earlier this year and in last week’s newsletter,
Elsewhere, it’s an exciting time for Dark Arts, as we pick through the Labour manifesto looking for the fingerprints of corporate lobbyists – expect to hear all about our findings next week.
