Guy Aitchison (London, CML): I couldn't resist sharing this video of Tory MEP Dan Hannan, the new darling of the American right, talking to Sean Hannity on Fox News (hat-tip Sunny Hundal). Hannan, who until recently was urging the UK to copy Iceland, calls the NHS a 60 year mistake which has made the country "iller" and urges the US audience to reject Britain's "socialist system" . As Hannan milks his fifteen minutes, serving up exactly what the American right wants to hear, he is surely making himself more and more toxic to the Tory leadership.
My favourite bit of a very funny clip comes at 9.10 where Hannan suggests “Maybe Fox is going to restore a little bit of sanity into the debate here”. Seems unlikely, Dan. Seems unlikely.
