FLARES FROM THE AMAZON

This documentary series collects the voices of indigenous communities in the Colombian, Brazilian, and Ecuadorian Amazon, who struggle for survival during the COVID-19 pandemic. In the midst of this global health crisis that reaches all corners of the planet, indigenous communities continue to fight for the defense of their territory. Extractivist projects and violence are moving forward, disguised under the pandemic's smokescreen.
'Flares from the Amazon' is a nine-episode series produced in the Amazon Rainforest by democraciaAbierta, in collaboration with Agenda Propia in Colombia, Engajamundo in Brazil and the Confederación de Nacionalidades Indígenas de la Amazonía Ecuatoriana in Ecuador. The series was produced with the support of Pulitzer Center Rainforest Journalism Fund.
